How to restore erased folders on Mac OS X?

Macintosh is mostly popular for its innovative technology and brilliant functionalities. This operating system is mainly designed considering the needs of individuals for their personal as well as professional use. Mac OS X stores digital data in form of files on its hard drives. For manipulating and managing data on the hard drive Mac OS uses HFS, HFSX, HFS+ file system architectures. To control the access to your files and folders, Mac OS X sets permission automatically for disks as well as files and folders. These permissions for an item can be changed according to the user. Mac OS X facilitates permissions for three sorts of users like who have created the item, any other user having access to the item and any member of the group assigned to the item. Besides all these folder facilities important Mac folders get deleted sometimes because of some reasons. In such a case you should recover deleted folder on Mac OS X using a Mac folder recovery tool that has the potential to recover lost files from corrupt Hitachi hard drive and other popular hard disk drives. In addition, if you want to retrieve deleted folders from memory card and from other storage media, you can employ this tool as supports deleted folder/file recovery from all type storage devices. Before going in details about the folder recovery process on Mac let’s have a look at some common folder deletion scenarios on Mac.

Common Folder deletion scenarios on Mac:

  • Accidental Deletion: Folders from Mac OS X can get deleted due to common human mistakes like erasing some folders by mistake instead of any other data using shift + delete key combination. Deleting folders from Trash Bin while trying to free some disk space also gives rise to folder deletion on Mac
  • Catalog file deletion: Catalog files are mainly responsible for storing the details about the folders and files inside and their nodes are used to access a particular folder or file. If the catalog file of a particular folder gets deleted means the folder also becomes inaccessible i.e. can’t be accessed anymore by the user
  • Trash Bin Bypass: Folders on Mac can also get deleted due to Trash Bin bypass. If the deleted folder is having size larger than the free space available in the Trash Bin allocated, then the deleted folder may not be stored in the Trash Bin anymore after its deletion. This particular situation of files or folder deletion is called Trash Bin bypass
  • Besides all the above mentioned reasons some other reasons like improper shut down of the system, sudden power surge, improper usage of third party utility etc. are also responsible for folder deletion in Mac OS X
